FILM SHOWING: ALL OVER THE GUY

Film Showing: ALL OVER THE GUY
Synopsis: This contemporary romantic comedy perfectly captures the fears, foibles, and confusion facing modern twentysomethings looking for love. Eli (Dan Bucantinsky) and Tom (Richard Ruccolo) are complete opposites, set up by their two straight best friends, Jackie (Sasha Alexander) and Brett (Adam Goldberg). Opposites attract in this charming romantic tale, but not without a very bumpy ride. Eli and his sister (Christina Ricci) are the products of therapist parents who over-express, over-analyze and idealize love.
All eyes were glued on the screen watching the film…Opposite from Eli, Tom is a detached, promiscuous alcoholic unable to express the slightest emotion. The two share a night of physical attraction but after constant bickering they quickly conclude that they cannot have a meaningful relationship. Despite a few chance encounters, the seemingly polar opposites quickly fall back into their single routines: Eli hits therapy and Tom hits the bars. Meanwhile, a blooming relationship and subsequent engagement between Jackie and Brett forces the estranged Eli and Tom to face one another.*** Bros. Jojo and Sherwin played hosts for that night and it was likewise attended by Bros. Egay, Sherman, Lloyd, Joey and Cyre. Fingerfoods (hotdogs with mallows and cheese) and sandwiches with tuna spread courtesy of Bro. Lloyd were served after the movie.

HAPPY HOLLOWEEN

24 12 2006
“PATAYIN SA SINDAK SI JOEY!”
It was a well-attended event that culminated the month of October. “Patayin sa Sindak si Joey” proved to be a catchy title as many members attended the said event. Present were Bros. Joey, Sherman, Lino, Egay, Lloyd, Oliver, John, Roel (Joey’s guest), Ricci, Bojo, Alan, Marco, Toby, Nathan, ***, Sis. Riva and Hessed. It was a fun-filled event at Shakey’s Malate (Rajah Sulayman park) wherein Bro. Alan brought in a Red Ribbon cake to everyone’s delight and Bro. Lino made sure the ice cream he bought from Shakey’s was enough for everyone (curious? ask him and Bro. Alan!). After eating, the group stayed and had fun doing three activities: The first one was the story-telling activity wherein each one was given a chance to narrate his own experience with spirits or ghosts. Next was the “dugtungan” game wherein each one had a piece of paper and each started out writing a statement and the paper was passed around with each one adding his own statement until funny compositions were created. Lastly was the “life analysis” activity wherein each one was made to draw things (impromptu) out of the following shapes: circle, square, diamond, slash, triangle, and rectangle. Bro. Sherman then explained what the shapes represent and mixed reactions were drawn from the group. It was past 12 midnight when the activity was finished and the group decided to hang out at Bro. Egay’s place. With shots of Tequila being passed around, more stories were told and the merriment ended around 5 in the morning just as the sun was about to rise.

Hanging out at Shakey’s Malate…

… as usual, pose naman ang mga lola!

Mukha bang Star Struck survivors?

Sila naman ang Star Circle questors!

Di talaga mapigilan sa kaka-pose…

… frustrated models yata ang mga ito!

May nakikita ba kayong kakaiba? Awooo!

Mag-ingat sa MULTONG BAKLA! Ngek!

Hanging out at Bro. Egay’s place…

Tequila drinks amidst the fun and laughter.

OCTOBER FEST

TOPS… BOTTOMS… CHEERS! OKTOBERFEST ALA MCC
It was another night of bonding for our dear brothers at The Library Foundation office at Bangkal, Makati last October 21, 2005. Since October is the month known for “Oktoberfest” gimmicks, MCCers had their own version of the said event with a certain twist. The drinks are there (it’s the main ingredient of course) and there were games and sharing of stories as well. Present during the said event were Bros. Sherman, Joey, Egay, Lloyd, John, Ricci, Alan and Gani. Although the members were quite sober after the “drinking session”, everybody was happy with the outcome of the activity.

Knights of the round “what?”…

… drinking while sharing stories. Cheers!

FILM SHOWING: TRICK

24 12 2006
By Popular Demand: TRICK!
ENTER YOU from “Trick”I’ve heard that all the world’s a stage
And we are only players acting out some predetermined page
But it is lonely as can be
With nobody opposite me… Then…
Enter you – Voila it’s showtime
You brought the house down with a dance and a dumb ditty
Enter you – In less than no time
This ugly drama has become pretty
Up went the curtain, My lines felt wrong
Intermission seemed so far away
The plot uncertain, The scenes too long
Life was like an uninspiring play

But now you’re here – We meet stage center
I thought my storyline was through
Then enter you

Now you’re here – We meet stage center
I thought my storyline was through
Then from the blue
Enter you

Gabriel (CHRISTIAN CAMPBELL) is an aspiring playwright and composer of theatrical musicals who happens to be gay. When not relegated to spending the night out in the hallway while his straight roommate, Rich (BRAD BEYER), uses their one-room apartment for sex, Gabriel has his loudmouthed best friend, Katherine (TORI SPELLING) perform his latest number for a small focus group. Unfortunately, their lukewarm reception isn’t encouraging, with an older gay friend, Perry (STEVE HAYES), faulting Gabriel for being emotionally detached from his work. Looking for a change of pace, Gabriel visits a gay club. While he likes the looks of “go-go boy” male dancer Mark (JOHN PAUL PITOC), he finds the joint’s clientele and their come-ons unappealing and leaves. Heading back home on the subway, he runs into Mark again, and the two decide to have a quick fling.

Complications quickly follow, however, as Gabriel and Mark try to find a place to be alone. His apartment seems ideal, but Katherine’s there printing her resume, while Rich then returns with Judy (LORRI BAGLEY), a recently liberated young woman who has no qualms about being topless in front of others. With the two men continuing in their quest to find a place for their fling, they face more complications, their differing expectations about each other, and even a friendly warning from Miss Coco Peru (CLINTON LEUPP), a drag queen who informs Gabriel about Mark’s supposed “love ‘em and leave ‘em” behavior.
Awed looks of those who watched “Trick” at Bro. Egay and Vince’s place.
