Dear MCC members, churches, and pastors,
We want to connect everyone to our 40th anniversary, which begins this October 2008! We want the world to see us, to see our ministry alive and in action, to see who we are 40 years into this incredible adventure called MCC.
Your participation will make the difference — it can be simple or elaborate, traditional or edgy. MCCers are incredibly creative, and we love to find ways to entertain and inform each other. The more churches that take part, the more diverse and powerful our witness will be. Your church is not too small or too big to be a part of this historic celebration.
Don’t let this one get stuck on your pastor’s desk – this is a project for the fearless, the young at heart, those who have a passion to communicate and connect. We know there are many professional and amateur filmmakers among us! Come out of your closet, and let’s create something wonderful together.
You know that MCC has changed lives, families, churches, nations, laws, and hearts for 40 years – let’s get out there and make sure everyone knows!

On October 6, 2008, MCC will be celebrating our 40th year of ministry to the GLBT community and beyond. Many events are being planned to celebrate this significant milestone for our movement. Check your email as well as the MCC website for updates. In order to make MCC’s 40th Anniversary celebration an even better event, we want to solicit your help. We would like to collect messages from all MCC-affiliated groups congratulating Metropolitan Community Churches on our 40th Anniversary.
We will make the videos available on our website for the world to see and show how proud we are of MCC.
The deadline for video submissions is August 15, 2008.
Lights, Camera, Action!
We want to make it as simple as possible and as accessible to all our churches as we possibly can. To keep the format simple and to make it easier for you to send it to us, we encourage you to use a digital photo camera which automatically creates digital files, which you can then email to us or upload to our storage server. Alternatives 1) Submit a PowerPoint slideshow. We will convert this to video format. 2) Submit digital pictures and a digital audio message. We will create a slideshow and convert to video format. We REALLY want everyone to be able to submit something!
But What Do I Record?
Not sure what to film for your video? Here are some ideas to get you started:
Catch your entire congregation before or after a worship service, and all at the same time cheer “Congratulations MCC on your 40th Anniversary!”
Record a video clip of your choir or music group singing a congratulations message.
Get a video of kids in your congregation saying “Happy Birthday MCC”
Be as creative as you want, and let’s really show off the diversity which MCC represents. This can be a wonderful team-building opportunity for your congregation.
Submit Your Video
We prefer that you email or upload your video file to the web for us to retrieve. Some of the files will be too large to email. We suggest you create a free account on Media Fire, follow the instructions on their website to upload your video, and submit the uploaded file to Jason O’Neill at JasonONeill@MCCchurch.net.
Please include your name, the name of your church and a contact telephone number where we can reach you in case we have any questions about your submission.
Please Note
Video/audio must not be more than 3 minutes in length
We reserve the right to edit any videos for length or content
Don’t Miss the Deadline!
The deadline for video submissions is August 15, 2008
We have had several people call to inquire about an extension. Please keep in mind we still must download, (possibly) edit, and upload every video (up to 300 if every MCC-affiliated group submits) into one system, and then incorporate that system into our MCC website for viewing.
